Just because you've only got houseplants doesn't mean you don't have the gardening spirit - I look upon myself as an indoor gardener. ~Sara Moss-Wolfe
Gardening is a kind of disease. It infects you, you cannot escape it. When you go visiting, your eyes rove about the garden; you interrupt the serious cocktail drinking because of an irresistible impulse to get up and pull a weed. ~Lewis Gannit

Summer Flowering Groundcover
Cape Plumago
Plumbago auriculata
This scrambling shrub forms a sprawling bush 6ft - 8ft high when unsupported and displays pale sky blue flowers during the summer. Plumbago can be pruned into a formal hedge. A fast growing, drought resistant plant that will grow in almost any soil. I listed it under ground cover due to the large areas it can cover and it spreads by suckers. Most suitable for the Coastal and Tropical South.
Creeping liriope
Liriope spicata
Grass like clumps of evergreen foilage for part shade to shady areas. Typically 8" - 12" in height with spikes of pale violet flowers in mid to late summer. A moderate to fast grower that can be invasive.
Common Lantana
Lantana camara
There are many varieties of Lantana and some are more shrub like than others. Lantana is evergreen in warmer climates but will die back to the ground below freezing and return in the spring. It has been classified invasive in some areas. Plant if full sun to part shade. Excessive water and/or fertilizer will reduce the blooms.
