Most Morbian Clans do not hold a monarch or patriarch figure, like you would find inside a walled Kingdom. They have a Council, which is comprised of the Clan's Elder and his advisors.((I.E. advisors, those that monitor the various aspects of the Clan's well-being for him, and the like.)) All Elders are treated with the utmost respect within their Clan, and obeyed without argument. If a member of the Clan disagrees with an order or request from these men, they very often will not say so.
The Elders are given preferances in just about anything they might do, and easily hold one of the highest positions inside the Clan. Their duties consist mainly of seeing to the needs of the Clan, which is no small task, considering the lifespan of a Morbian, and some of the hostilities that are held between the various Clans. Their word is seen as law.
The Elders are brought to position one of two ways; either by having actually started the Clan himself, or he is one of the oldest of the race. There is one Elder per Clan, and the Council exists of the Elder and his main people.
