Osprey

This adult Osprey is probably a male since it lacks a strong dark necklace around its neck. Osprey are often called fish hawks since they live primarily off the fish they catch. The are commonly seen in September during the fall migration.

Occasionally, an Osprey is seen carrying a fish during migration. It is believed they are catching fish to feed themselves during migration. When an Osprey is seen with a fish during migration it is noted as part of the comments for the daily count.
