Directions

Directions to Allegheny Front Hawk Watch from the Reels Corner intersection of U.S. Route 30 and PA Route 160 are as follows: turn north onto PA Route 160 at Reels Corner. Take PA 160 into Central City for approximately 3.8 miles and turn (actually you will go straight) onto Lambert Street (SR 1018). You will go over a railroad crossing. After the railroad crossing Lambert Street turns left (approximately 0.5 miles from the intersection with PA 160). Do not make the left but continue straight on SR 1018 which is then named Shaffer Mountain Road. Continue on Shaffer Mountain road for 0.8 miles and make a right hand turn onto Lambert Mountain Road (SR 1035). Take Lambert Mountain Road for approximately 2.9 miles into the little village of Daley. Lambert Mountain Road turns left at this point and Fleegle comes in from the right. Continue straight at the intersection up a tar-and-chip road and past the Daley Cemetery which will be on the right. Approximately 0.5 miles up the tar-and-chip road (which will become dirt and chip) there will be a blue metal gate on the right. That is the entrance to Allegheny Front Hawk Watch. If the gate is open (and it will be when the site is staffed), go down that road to the parking area (approximately 0.25 miles from the gate). Walk east over the low rise to the actual watch site from the parking area. Click here to view a map of the area.
