The Sunset Moon Inn lies about a days' walk from the Kingdom of Tessian, which is to the east of the Inn. This neighbouring Kingdom, which can be found here, is a primarily human and elven militaristic kingdom. It has the royal family, of course, consisting of King Aaron, Queen Alisha, and their children, who reside in the palace.
Tessian holds a sizable, if not large, navy and army, with the royal docks having a couple hundred ships in them at any given time. The palace is in the center of the kingdom, and rises up in it's towers much like a watchful eye over the goings on below. There is a merchants' district, then the military district with it's barracks and training grounds and whatnot else. The history of the kingdom is short, but powerful, it having been created literally by a freak effect of magic.
The locals are friendly, usually, if a bit xenophobic. They are accustomed to humans and elves. Highly suspicious of any other race, and downright hostile towards Drow, Dragons, and Vampires. Currently, liscences to actually hunt down and kill vampires are being provided within the kingdom, with royal backing. Tunnels lead from the kingdom out into the surrounding areas. One such tunnel system is the same one that meets with the Sunset Moon, ending right into the Inn's wine cellar and basement.
The woods between the Inn, and the tavern are thick, inhabited by your typical wildlife as well as the Morbian Clan of Derak'tul. This is where the Tessian entrance to the tunnels between the Inn and the Kingdom lies. The Morbians make use of these tunnels as well, dangerous as they can be, but the tunnels provide a more direct, and thus faster, route between the Inn's grounds and the Kingdom's lands. Just about any goings-on within this forest will be noticed by teh Derak'tul, and probably investigated by the Clan as well. The Morbians are very much a visible presence in the area, even if one can't entirely pin down where in these trees they reside.
As well as having the protection of the Owners' Clan, the Inn is also under royal Tessian protection. It is it's own body, and the land on the property is owned by the Inn's management, but should there be trouble there will be answering to be done, to both the royalty of Tessian as well as the Morbian Clan out in the forest.
