Coming Of Age

Once I wept for the soldiers,
Seeing war as a living hell.
Once I wept for the people
When Da Nang and Saigon fell.

Once I wept for America,
For its lives and fortunes lost.
Once I wept for Viet Nam,
For bearing the higher cost.

Today I've stopped my weeping
Over crises' of history.
Welcome me to the real world,
I've learned to weep for me.
