Muscle Memories

Thighs remember...
Brushing hair, stroking gently
Along an intensity of love.
Multiple intensities describing
An impossible surrendering dare.

Calves remember...
The reaching for an unimagined place,
The embrace, the take off run and leap,
The speed, the flight,
Soaring into space,
Well beyond both mind and matter.

Calves remember both the need
And the satisfying return to earth.
Though mind and intellect were freed
From memories of ecstacy,
Calves remember.

With each awakening and stretch
Of reminiscing calves and thighs,
I am reminded of you, of days gone by
And future rendezvous.
