Silver Lining

It takes time to understand a culture foreign to your own
And it can't be done without earning loyal friends.

It takes time to see good may come from war full-blown
As forests spring from fired land which pretends
To be devastated.

At least that's how it was with me.
I went and understood and earned and was enriched

By having friends who helped me feel and see
The silver lining in clouds so crimson pitched.
