The Goddess and the Fool
Part I
There once was a clear eyed goddess
Fell in love with a muddy-eyed fool.
Which if you stop to think of it,
Was a most - foolish - thing to do.
The muddy eyed fool was full of pride,
Thinking he could peer into minds.
The truth is his only talent
Was for reading between the lines.
The fool though felt the goddess
Respond warmly to his touch
And long before they knew or said;
They loved each other much.
The goddess sought out Happiness.
The fool offered only Affection.
But when he confused her with a smile,
Their souls made the connection.
Part II
The world is crowded with people
Who happily legislate rules.
They've left but few happy places
For prideful muddy-eyed fools.
Pride goeth before the fall
And no one claims life's fair.
The fool got lost in Paradise-
Then found she wasn't there.
The heart is known for clouding eyes,
It's said that love is blind.
The goddess felt much stronger than he -
Decisions should come from the mind.
The fool was made to understand
Love isn't always the key.
For love alone can't buy Happiness
And Happiness isn't free.
