Polishing the Top Tins

How I polished my top tins , wasn't a big deal to get them off but that's another discussion.
Plenty of people have done this and everybody has a different way, but I will tell you this it worked for me just fine.

I used same tools  and materials as I did to do the legs with a few changes.

First get good pair of leather gloves because they are going to get HOT!.

I kept them always laying on a towel to prevent dents or scratches.
I used 80- grit Emory type sandpaper  (cut to fit my 4" orbital sander) to get the deep machine marks out  (this takes time because they are Stainless Steel and Hard) ,  then I used fine Emory type sandpaper( about 220 grit ) to finish sand them.

Some have used 600,1500,2000 grit sandpaper this waste of time in my opinion, Tried it.   You have to get ALL of the machine marks out or they will look like crap.
The green rouge will remove the fine sand marks.

Then I would polish a small area to see if I got the machine marks out if not I would sand some more.
When you are satisfied that you have all marks out, then start polishing.

Use Green Jewelers Rouge ( this not hard to find or I can tell you where to get it.)

Put your gloves on and rub the rouge against the buffing pads put a lot on it.
Then start polishing holding both ends of the tin , polish vertically and  push firmly against the pad with a good grip on the tin because the polisher can jerk it out of your hands if pad gets to close to the end of the tin and dent the hell out of them.

Always polish the ends with the pad turning away from the end so it can't grab it.
(Trust me I know).
I would switch back and forth on the tins polish one till it got HOT, then put it down and grab a cool one,
 let them cool down some.

Your not going to get this done in a day so take your time and do it over 3 or four days you get better results.

What I did do is buy extra pads 2 hard doubled up each side makes polish area wider (I got some soft pads but they did no good at all).

Also I polished the Top tree while I had it off do same as legs.
