How to the Adjust Clutch Cable

Half way down the clutch cable is a barrel nut, that you can take out a lot of the slop with.

First things first, ;

1.   Turn the adjusting cup/nut, at the handlebars all the way 'in', to the clutch lever.

2.   At the clutch bracket , , you turn the small clutch lever/cable holder, counter-clockwise and take a measurement of 'about' 1 1/4 inches , , from the end of the clutch lever, (where the clutch cable attaches), to the clutch cable holder. It does NOT have to be EXACTLY 1 1/4 inches. A close proximity is good, .

3. Take out most of the slack with the half-way barrel nut, of the clutch cable.

4. Make final handlebar clutch lever adjustments, to that 'nickels width', for a 'cold' adjustment.

Now, with it hopefully working , , go for a ride and get the engine good and warmed up. You will 'notice' that there is a little more slop in the handlebar clutch lever.  NOW, is the time to get that 'nickels width' adjustment again.

The heat of the engine and components expand to give more slop of the clutch lever and such. I try to make most of my adjustments with the engine warmed up. It'll be TIGHT, with a morning cold engine, 'but', will come back to a normal adjustment when the engine gets good and warm as you're normally riding it.

Hope this helps.
