Dougie 99’s Description:
Here's an attempt at my bike's story.
1600 Roadstar:
Purchased used in Apr 06 w/8000 miles.
Color: Red/Beige
I bought my Roadie having been away from bikes for way too long.
After a lot of pressure from my wife for a couple of years, I caved in
and decided to buy something.
The Road Star was a no-brainer.  Three of my buddies owned them
and knowing how reliable they'd been for them, and how cheap they
were to buy, I started looking. Well one of the guys found this one for
me almost right away. I was out of town when he called me. I phoned
the seller and bought it over the phone!!
The bike started out with only 8000 miles on it. The seller had taken 6 years
to do 500 miles. The rest were done by the original owner in the first year.
So, I had some work on my hands.  The fluids were old, the carb was all bunged
up and the tires were dried out.
Over a few months and too many dollars, she's become the Roadie I adore.
Here's what she's got from me since I bought her, not to mention a lot of love and plenty of polish!!
Stock carb set up:
165 main
Baron's needle- washer, clip on 4th groove, white spacer
Baron's PMS set at 1 7/8
Accelerator pump fully home, nut on backside

Baron's BAK
Vance & Hines Pro Pipe
Ben Herr ported manifold
Odo's guidance on carb set up
Oil pump gear upgrade
Barnett clutch upgrade
Trannie recall (thanks for that Yamaha, good timing!)
Saddleman Solo studded seat
Cobra highway bars
Kury highway pegs
Kury ISO grips
Bulldog’s dresser style 1.25" handlebars
Tall sissy bar (since photo)
LED tail light conversion- Front/rear LED blinker/running light upgrade
Bucks lowers
Ball milled billet pulley cover
Clear front blinker lenses
Red rear blinker lenses
Highway Hawk driver's back rest
Yamaha single gear shift lever
Chrome Stebel horn (to be installed)
I'd like to get Nemesis coils from DK some time soon.  Maybe a competition baffle for the Pro Pipe.  Longer term, I'd love to customize her to be a single seater. I'm Scottish, so it would likely be blue/white with a Celtic circles theme to it. A brown leather seat, lose the bagger stuff, windshield, etc. There's so much inspiration of the Roadie forums, I'll probably never settle for a final custom design...unless I buy another one!!
Oh, and the guy in the top left of the photo, that's my son Iain. He'll be 4 in April and is just the best guy in the world.
