Use the basic pattern for
the body.
I made the eyes and mouth with embroidered stitches...follow the
picture.
The spine is as follows:
*cast on 3 sts
cast off 2 sts
slip remaining st off the right hand needle onto the left hand needle*
Repeat * to * once more
** cast on 4sts
cast off 4 sts
slip remaining st off the right hand needle on to the left hand needle**
repeat ** to ** twice more
Cast on 2 sts
Cast off 2 sts
Slip remaining st off of right hand needle onto left needle
Cast on 2 sts
Cast off.
Sew to back of puppet, leaving a bit at top to sew onto top &
front of head after puppet is sewn together.
