Welcome! The purpose of this HOLDREN Genealogy Homepage is to provide
a place where all Holdren researchers can exchange information, coordinate research, and -
hopefully - generate a few new leads! I'm very open as to what this page will contain in
terms of format and content. Please let me know what you think would be helpful to your
research.
The pictures are of two of my HOLDREN ancestors. The picture on the left is of William HOLDREN (1819-1862),
my great-great-grandfather. He was killed in the Civil War. W. D. Holdren (1854-1931), William's son, is
pictured on the right; he was my great-grandfather.

Some HOLDREN Brick Walls:
(How about adding yours?)
Please note: Additional discussion of the following "brickwalls" appears on
the Other Holdren Researchers
page! Please join us there!
- Where was Adron Edward HOLDREN born? Published biographies of
some of his sons state that Adron was born "in New Jersey in 1785",
but I've never seen any proof of this. However, the same information was
handed down several generations, and amongst several different lines of
Adron's descendants. He was possibly the son of Benjamin
HOLDREN (died 1842 in Hunterdon County), and is quite probably related
to Mathias HOLDREN, for Adron named 2 of his sons after each of the men.
- Who were Frances Claude HOLDREN's parents? He and his wife, Mildred Jeanne
BLAIR, had at least one daughter, Ruth Ann HOLDREN.
- How does the line of William HOLDREN, Sr., connect to that of the other
Holdren/Haldron lines? We've made some assumptions, and would love to connect with
other genealogists researching this line.
- Who were the parents of John HOLDREN of Washington Co., OH? Descendants are
looking for proof that John is a son of Joseph HOLDREN of the same county.
- Who were Harry Madison HOLDREN's parents? From which HOLDREN line
did he descend? He was married in Palestine, TX, but we don't know where he
was born or where he died.
- How do all of the various HOLDREN/HALDRON lines tie together? Is it
probably safe to assume that all of the HOLDRENs in this country descend
from the gentleman who served as the village blacksmith in early-day Harlem,
New Amsterdam?
