Walk Across Westminster Bridge

William Wordsworth had it right. You can't beat the view from here. Well, at least you can't if they ever get the construction finished.

The past two times we've been there, the Jubilee Line tube extension and refurbishing the bridge have made a mess out of pedestrian and vehicular traffic at Westminster. It should be fixed by now, however. Then you can take a leisurely stroll across the Thames and see the houses of Parliament from the water. Be sure to do this after dark to see the green and gold illumination of the clock tower. If you are there near the hour wait around to hear the famous Westminster chime, followed by the tolling of "Big Ben."
On the Southwark side there's even a new aquarium to visit. It occupies the former London City Hall.

This beautiful picture dates from the early part of the century, but it still appears pretty much this way, looking across the Thames to the Palace of Westminster.
